And to help you to get into the spirit of the day, we list some of the best parody movies that are guaranteed to make you ROFL!

Happy National Joke Day!

We’d like to wish a very Happy National Joke Day to all you guys. And no, we had no idea this day existed either, in fact some people suspect this is Twitter’s idea of a joke. But then if May 10 can be Clean Your Room Day and May 25 can be Towel Day, then we are pretty sure that June 2 is National Joke Day. And to help you properly get into the spirit of the day, we recommend you to watch videos whose entire premise is based on a joke. Yes, we are talking about the thriving world of parodies! And while Youtube has special channels dedicated to parodies, (there are some excellent ones out there on iPhones), watching a ten minute video doesn’t cut it. We are Indians, and it runs in our blood to celebrate every tiny occasion on a grand scale with aplomb. Which is why we recommend you to call over all your friends, roll out the big screen and sit back and have a great time watching these parody movies:

The Scary Movie series started out in 2000 and the makers have since made it their life mission to poke fun at horror movies; they ridiculed the sinister masked serial killer of Scream, mocked the weekly murders in The Ring and gleefully poked fun at all the slashing that went on in I Know What You Did Last Summer. Take a bow guys, your noble contribution has made the horror movie world a funnier place. But the one thing that millions of fans are dying to know is: seeing as you specialize in making spoofs on scary films, WHEN are you making one on Never Say Never?

The one parody that outshone the popularity of its original one: Vampires Suck, was made in 2010 and remained a talking point for months. Even the most devoted Stephenie Meyer fan ended up in splits after watching fake Bella turn into a scrumptious hamburger for fake Edward’s drooling clan. And even though the film derails a bit in the second half, watch it for fake Bella’s brilliantly enacted Blank Look and Edward’s disco ball moment in the climax!

And if you thought that the Indian film industry isn’t capable of having a good laugh at itself every now and then, think again. (And no, Players isn’t a spoof of The Italian Job. They simply tried to tamper with the script and the end result turned out to be hilarious). From Fakir Khan, the coach who re-taught us the meaning of the words ‘70 minute’ (& you thought Ayushmann made his film debut with Vicky Donor?) to Cyrus Sahukar who will make you cry even harder than Darsheel Safary did, to the bumbling band of robbers in Ghoom;, there is a whole host of MTV Fully Faltoo films that will make you rethink the way you think of Indian films! So on this National Joke Day, what parody are you watching? Tell us in the comments section!
