Because nothing gets college life better than a single verse of Masti Ki Paathshala. For all its shortcomings, when it comes to movies on college life, Bollywood has got the competition beat fair and square.

Gather your old college buds around and join us in recounting these seven Bollywood movies that will make you wish college life never ended:

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Didn’t matter whether you were four years old or forty when this movie released; the adorable trio of Rahul, Anjali and Tina made you want to head to St. Xaviers’ College and stay frozen in time forever.

3 Idiots

With classmates like Rancho, ‘balaatkari’ speeches and campus interviewers who turn a deaf ear when you basically inform them that you’re a nutcase, (an adorable one, at that!) we fail to see what engineering students have to cry about. From the makers of Munnabhai, comes another college masterpiece that nails every last college stereotype, from the nerdy Chatur to the stiff-necked principal Virus. Rajkumar Hirani, tussi great ho!

Rang De Basanti

Whoever said that actors need to play their age, obviously hasn’t had an eyeful of Aamir Khan pulling off a college rebel. The method actor that he is, DJ, along with his adorable gang, methodically make us fall in love with them, even more so for their reticence to venture any further in college beyond the confines of the canteen.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaana Na

The tomboys, the oddballs, the misfits, the blondes, the ‘college trustee ka beta’s and the pappus; the movie might as well have been describing all our college gangs. A borderline mushy movie with a heart of gold, JTJYN is where you head when you are in a college reunion-y mood.

Main Hoon Na

Sushmita Sen. The saree clad hot Chemistry professor. While we couldn’t get rid of the practicals, journals and exams that college life entails fast enough, teachers like her make even flunking seem worth it.

Student of the Year

That SOTY was based on a college is debatable, given that they are yet to create colleges with hostels that could easily pass off as a five-star hotel suite, but KJo’s movie still makes it to our list for gladly embracing the finer aspects of education, including prom, hot cheerleaders and even hotter jocks - From the Tatas to the Batas, everyone was freely granted admission here. Except puberty. Honestly, what college going boy has abs like Varun Dhawan? And if they do, how come we didn’t have any of them in our college?
