9 Bollywood Celebs Who Are Against Social Media
August 26, 2014 @ 09:27 am
Being able to directly interact and connect with your fans on a mass scale. What’s not to like, right? Wrong!
Even as wannabe celebs like Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra create splashes, and waves and other things, with every consequent selfie; certified A-listers are busy steering clear of social networking sites of all forms. Here’s a look at nine Bollywood celebs who have sworn off social media:
Saif Ali Khan
Given the unsavory experiences that his fellow Khans have had at the hands of the Internet trolls, Saif can well be forgiven for wanting to keep his distance from Twitter and the like. In the past, he has admitted that he prefers the shroud of mystery surrounding a star and plans to keep that intact by not joining any social media sites.
Saif Ali Khan
With the sheer number of fake accounts being spewed in her name, you’d think that she’d set up an official account and silence the fakers once and for all, but the actress who has no qualms in admitting that she isn’t tech savvy, has gone on record to state that spending time with her family ranks above updating her status on her list of priorities.
Kangana has never made a secret of the fact that social networking sites merely makes people display their loneliness and has even apparently sent a lucrative endorsement deal packing because it required her to join a social networking site. Howzzat for sticking to your guns?
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Apart from a brief stint on Twitter as part of her promotions for Heroine, Kareena has given all forms of social networking the cold shoulder as she believes in keeping her private life just that: Private, and isn’t big on the idea of sharing her details online. More’s the pity.
He might have commented in jest that he stays away from social networking because he doesn’t have anything in his head worth sharing, but the truth of the matter is that the negativity associated with such sites is a huge turn-off for him. "I feel that if you have a voice and you express something, you are often misunderstood. If you post a picture or comment, it is exaggerated 10 times over and I don’t want to get into that confusion. I would rather connect with my fans through my films," commented Kapoor Jr.
The Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actor may hold sway over a huge legion of young followers, but he fails to see the need to validate that with an actual set of followers on Twitter. And if he did at one time, he soon lost the inclination once he got an eyeful and earful of the negativity being spewed online, following which he deleted his Twitter account and refused to ever go back.
Shah Rukh Khan
His Twitter clout may outnumber that of his rivals, Aamir & Salman’s; but SRK has been branded by the torch of negativity as well, when his comments on his status as a Muslim superstar in India sparked off a furor online, following which the disillusioned actor took a time-out from Twitter.
Shah Rukh Khan
Likewise, Zoya Akhtar fails to see the attraction and has gone on record to state, “I am not on Twitter for a reason. I don't need to know so much about others; neither do I want to talk about myself there.”
Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar
The 2 States actor similarly felt that the free-flowing interaction that such sites permit was taking a toll on his life and begged off Twitter stating that he needed some time to go in his shell and rediscover himself.
