When the music bug bites!

Why do some songs get stuck in your head? Why do the most annoying tunes find their way in to your memory and cause you immense grief?

Some say that it is because we try to suppress thoughts, and the harder we try not to think about them, the more we can't help it. Others blame earworms (not parasites) that cause a cognitive itch. You are free to let the science of it all to screw you over, but here is a list of songs that you are guilty of humming incessantly:

Call Me Maybe: Since I am a unisex writer, and songs grab hold of you at anytime and anyplace, let us not feel guilty of having heard this song. Miss. Carly Rae Jepsen, ladies and gentleman, was scattered all over the place, after the release of her hit single, Call Me Maybe. It was played constantly on the radio, television and then the inevitable place, our mind, until the person sitting next to us said: I’m not going to call you!

Don’t You Worry Child: This track did swallow us whole after this song went viral, and to add to the bedlam, Swedish House Mafia announced that they were splitting up, making this the band’s farewell anthem. Until the next time they decide to drop in and hold a two hour concert that hovers along the brink of cancellation; try to get this song out of your mind and stop knocking its melody on available furniture, even if your only excuse is that the song was nominated for a Grammy.

Hunter: Gangs of Wasseypur fans and haters have one thing in common; they both love humming “I am a Hunter”. Certainly, a great mix of music from all over the place, but once distributed across all mediums, legal and illegal, this Hunter made us vulnerable to its feel good tune that tosses us over and over again till we’ve spread the disease to those in the vicinity.

Gangnam Style: You know what the writer means by “The song is characterized by its strongly addictive beats and lyrics, and is thus certain to penetrate the foundations of modern philosophy.” The video has racked up more than one billion views on YouTube. The next best thing would be to deliver a recording of this song to other planets. Try getting it out of your heads; it has been a year since the video was introduced on Earth.

Fevicol Se: Item songs are hard to miss and even harder to call quits when, the beat is dancing in your head. We know this song has been the culprit for all your miseries; you can blame us for it.
