Bipasha Basu Opposite 'Heartthrob' Josh Hartnett
Posted on Thursday, November 11th, 2010 By Nikhil Taneja
It's official. Bipasha Basu has joined the long (legged) line of Indian beauties (Aishwarya Rai, Mallika Sherawat, Gulshan Grover, Om Puri...) to sign on a Hollywood movie. The actress has confirmed that she will be playing the female lead in Roland Joffe's 'Singularity' opposite "Hollywood heartthrob" Josh Hartnett. Adding to this, she claims that it's a "dream come true" for her to work opposite him. Wait... what?

As much as we are excited about her working in a Hollywood film (and we are SUPER excited!!!!! See.. so many exclamations!!!!!), there are at least a couple of things wrong with that statement. And considering the statement says only a couple of things, things get complicated.
For one, the only time Josh Hartnett was a Hollywood 'heartthrob' was around 10 years ago, when he starred in Pearl Harbour (also known as the movie that bombed as badly as… well, Pearl Harbour). He was also seen in The Black Dahlia after that, but the only reason people remember him in that is because he got to get down and dirty with Scarlett Johansson (lucky !@#$).
The other thing that leaves you aghast with disbelief (yes, we take our pop culture news very seriously) is the fact that it's her “dream come true"to work with him. Of ALL the good looking people in Hollywood (at last count, there were gazillion), Bipasha's been dreaming of working with JOSH HARTNETT? Really?! What about Brad Pitt and George Clooney and heck, even Justin Bieber for that matter, who is more of a heartthrob than Josh Hartnett can ever be?
Why, oh why, has she set her standards so low, especially since she has gone on record to say that she refused roles in 'The Pink Panther' (that starred 'heartthrobs' Steve Martin and Andy Garcia) and 'I Am Legend' (that starred WILL SMITH!).
But we guess, it's just her excitement talking. To be fair (and non-sarcastic, for once), the movie seems to be a pretty big deal (or at least sounds like it… dammit, did it again!). It's an epic romance between a British soldier and an Indian warrior in colonial India, and Bipasha plays… yes, you guessed it right, the Indian warrior.
The film also stars Abhay Deol, but since his PR machinery has chosen to remain silent about it, we will have to wait and watch what role he has taken on. And we WILL wait, because we like him too! (See, exclamation marks again!!!!)
