We are the Youth. This Is Our Constitution.
Posted on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011 By Nikhil Taneja
On the occasion of India's 61st Republic Day, we, at MTV India, have asked 2 millions of our fans on social media (Facebook and Twitter) to draft a 'Youth Constitution'. We ask YOU to come up with 61 rights and freedoms that you, the youth of our country, believe should be incorporated by the constitution.

We will hand over this 'Youth Constitution' to youth leader, MP Milind Deora, on January 26 in person, and then send it to Rahul Gandhi, Secretary of Indian National Congress, for we believe, these young leaders have it in them to lead our generation by example.
These are some rights and freedoms WE feel the youth deserve. What do YOU think? Give us your comments below.
1. Freedom to not pay taxes
Are we supposed to pay taxes even when it is all going in the treasury of 'Rajas'? Are we supposed to pay taxes even when it's a self-service restaurant? Are we supposed to pay taxes even though the roads have more craters than the moon? Are we supposed to pay taxes even when we are clearly unprofessional? Are we supposed to pay taxes even though the 'entertainment' is gorillas farting on screen!?!?
2. Freedom to be our own moral police
Who gave the right to politicians to stop us from public display of affection, especially when... umm... most of us don't have the guts to anyway? Who gave the right to politicians to censor late night television, especially when... umm... it's awkward hearing it from parents? Who gave the right to politicians to tell us where to live, how to dress, whom to love, especially when... umm... most of us don't have the salary to do it anyway?
3. Freedom to one tight slap
Shouldn't we be allowed one tight slap each time Shekhar Suman flaunts his cleavage? Shouldn't we be allowed one tight slap to Dolly Bindra for eve-teasing Ashmit Patel? Shouldn't we be allowed one tight slap to Kalmadi for having so much hair on his face that even if we gave him one tight slap his beard would shield it? Shouldn't everyone be allowed one tight slap just so that everyone fears tight slaps and do no wrong?
4. Right to fire politicians
If they lie during campaigning, why should we take it lying down? If they don't live up to their promises, why should we let them earn a living? If they scam us behind our backs, why can't we slam them on their face? If they can run the country at the age of about-to-die, we do we have to retire at 60? If they can make statues of themselves, why can't we break them down?
5. Right to men's equality
Why is there a Women's Day and not a Men's Day? What have we men done wrong to deserve this step treatment? Why is there only Women's Equality and not Men's Equality? Why is there reservation for women on buses and trains and not for men? Why are men who are men-ist called chauvinists and women who are chauvinists called feminists? Why don't men get hit on by as many women as women get hit on by men?
6. Right to follow our dreams
What if we can't be good engineers but can definitely cook a mean maggi? What if we can't be good doctors but can definitely Facebook day and night? What if we can't be good MBAs but can definitely bitch on camera? What if we can't be good CAs but make fun of them in front of an audience? What if we can't be good coders but are such comic fanboys that we LIKE wearing chaddis over our pants?
7. Freedom and Right to be INDIAN
Are we supposed to pay taxes even when there is no transparency on where they are going? Who gave the right to politicians to decide what regional language we speak, especially when their children study in English-medium schools? Shouldn't we be allowed one tight slap every time someone tries to divide us by caste or religion? If we can hire politicians, why can't we fire them? Why is there only reservation but not deserve-ation? What if we can't be of a state but we can definitely be of India?
