We heard a similar story making headlines in the year 2004; Madhur Bhandarkar was accused by small time actress Preeti Jain for rape and criminal intimidation. On the many occasions that she has been vocal to the media, here is what she had to say: "We had sex 16 times and Madhur made promises of giving me a lead role in his films. However, he didn't offer me a lead role in any of his movies. At times when I refused, he raped me."

In the year 2005, Jain was arrested for paying Rs. 75,000 to a hit man for killing Madhur Bhandarkar, but later released on bail. She then took the help of the Andheri Court in 2009 but the Police presented their report in which they alleged that there was no evidence of rape. Thereafter, Preeti Jain sought the help of the Bombay High Court that rejected the allegations made by the Police in 2011. However, the Bombay High Court granted Bhandarkar bail.

Today, the Supreme Court dismissed the case after Preeti said that she did not want to pursue the case any longer. Unfortunately, concluding the case abruptly does not really put an end to the mystification of the longstanding issue of harassed aspirants. Probably, such issues were meant to remain stories, never to be established as reality.
