Sonam Kapoor’s Two Piece Adventures

Let us take this opportunity to thank Yash Raj Films for being the first production house to bring swimwear to Indian cinema.

Whether it was Sonam Khan in the movie Vijay or Juhi Chawla in Darr, if they agreed to be portrayed as swimmers, it was only for the Yash Raj banner. The trend has made it very obvious that no actress can deny the banner, when it chooses to push the envelope. The next actress to let the sand slip from her hands is Sonam Kapoor.

On the other hand, it shouldn’t be that embarrassing to don a bikini in this day and age, and Sonam Kapoor sees nothing wrong in taking a step forward. Actually, it has been a while since Sonam Kapoor has made news; so, let us just be very nice to her. There is no doubt that she has come a long way from Saawariya; may be, not as far as her co-star Ranbir Kapoor has, but then we can always blame the industry for not scaling her until she does something controversial.

After all, the little known Esha Deol came right into the limelight after she agreed to wear a bikini for Dhoom; wait a minute, the list is endless. In Dhoom 2 Bipasha Basu followed in her footsteps; then Anushka Sharma, who was portrayed as a conservative girl in her second film, had no qualms in wearing yellow two-piece in Badmash Company and Ladies Vs Vicky Behl. While Anushka hasn’t stop daring the media, it shouldn’t be a bad time for Sonam to make a start.

In case, Mr. India (Anil Kapoor) is somewhere in the shadows listening to all this, we would like to remind him of all those films in which he starred opposite bikini clad babes. So, do cheer on your daughter now that she has learnt to swim.
