An odd coupling: Shaadi Ke Side Effects

After the stellar success of the 2006 film Pyaar Ke Side Effects, it comes as no surprise that the sequel to film is in the offing.

Shaadi Ke Side Effects is the sequel that features Farhan Akhtar as Sid, initially played by Rahul Bose in Pyaar Ke Side Effects, and Vidya Balan as Trisha.

When Pyaar Ke Side Effects first saw the light of day, the characters Trisha and Sid became household names. The beauty of the movie’s plot was that every budding romance, every strung out couple saw themselves gravitating towards this on screen duo due their affable demeanor and relatability. The natural progression to this uber successful film was a sequel that depicted the life of this couple after their proverbial happily ever after!

Shaadi Ke Side Effects is the sequel that features Farhan Akhtar as Sid, initially played by Rahul Bose in Pyaar Ke Side Effects, and Vidya Balan as Trisha. While this might be an odd pairing as far as Bollywood clichés are concerned but we think this cast can deliver brilliance. The director of the first film, Saket Chaudary, returns to take charge for the second installment.

The additions to the cast will be standup comedian, Vir Das, television icon Ram Kapoor and his wife Gautami, Ila Arun and Hariharan. While this film will essentially be a romantic comedy like its prequel, it will also showcase the intricacies of a modern marriage. They will be shown trying to accomplish the impossible task of coping with each other’s fantasies and realities. In fact, the producer of the film, Pritish Nandy described the movie as a witty, sexy, hilarious comedy that will warm the hearts of the audience and compel them to choose sides. He went on to add that it would depict the quirky, often irrational, battle between Venus and Mars. It’s time to pick up the infamous book, we reckon.

When Vidya Balan was quizzed on her experience while working with Farhan she was all praises, she added, “I am enjoying working with him. First time working with an actor who is also a writer and a director. I think there is lot for me to learn from him.”

Farhan shed his Bhaag Milkha Bhaag tresses for this film and sharpened up to be the modern day newlywed and Vidya shed her Dirty Picture baggage to seem the demure bride. Ekta Kapoor, under whose banner the film is co-produced, pronounced that this film would be a laughathon and would provide entertainment all the way. Well, all we can say is that Vidya Balan came through on her promise; she’s giving us “Entertainment, Entertainment, Entertainment!”
