Swiss Wala Song!

From Anushka Sharma in her barely-there shorts to Katrina Kaif in full strapless glory to SRK doing the routine carefree jaunt around the square, Jab Tak Hai Jaan has every possible song you'd expect from a Yash Chopra movie, except perhaps the signa
You’d be hard pressed to find a 90s kid who did not go starry eyed and secretly drool as Shah Rukh Khan ardently declared his passion for his lady love against the picture perfect backdrop of Switzerland, so typical to any Yash Chopra movie. And when Yashji returned to the director’s chair after eight years, the unit put together a special song sequence in Switzerland, his favourite outdoor location, as a token of appreciation for their mentor.
Which is probably what made Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif two of the most envied actresses - Not only were they conferred the honour of being a leading lady for Yash Chopra, but they also had a song sequence on the snow clad slopes of Switzerland coming their way. However, as fate would have it, Yashji came down with dengue and passed away before that dream could be realised.
As a director, Yash Chopra was always keen on releasing his films around Diwali because he believed that it was a festival of life and happiness. In keeping with his wishes, Jab Tak Hai Jaan is heading in full steam for a November 13th release; however, the swan song is now firmly off the cards.
Yashji was diagnosed with dengue before the shoot for the song could start, and his unexpected demise has left the makers at a loss; so much that Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra have decided to scrap the idea altogether. Shah Rukh Khan was reported as telling the media, “We don’t feel emotionally and mentally ready to go to Switzerland and shoot without Yashji. If the song is not being shot by Yash Chopra, then even I don’t want to shoot it.” The song will now be played in the background with scenes that Yashji’s already shot.
And even though the Switzerland tourism board will be bereft of a hefty commission, we think it’s a fitting gesture. In our minds, Switzerland songs firmly belong to Yash Chopra’s world and even the best of directors would fail to do full justice to it. As SRK says, and we heartily agree, “You don’t go to Switzerland without Yash Chopra.” Word.
