"Sir, I want to be a musician, but my parents want me to join the family business".

"I'm studying engineering because my dad wants me to, but I'm not at all interested in it. I'm more into photography".

I can't tell you how many times I've heard these and other similar statements from youngsters, across the nation. I have also had conversations with parents, who feel confused and insecure that their child may not know what he or she is doing. They feel compelled to guide and lead them into a life that promises a stereotypical image of success.

Here's what I think, more than parents wanting their children to succeed, they seem to be scared that they will fail. So, they urge their child to make "safe" choices, like they were made to do by their parents. But in our parents' time, even till when I was in college, there were limited options. Engineering, medicine or sometimes accounting seemed like the only legitimate options. Success was defined by whether you were in those professions or not.

In the new world, following conventional paths is anything but safe; too many applicants, too few jobs. Today's generation is growing up with never before seen opportunities and the courage to dream and to follow new paths. Their choices are based on confidence, not fear.

This confidence and attitude is what "Jajabor" is all about. No longer are we happy to watch others blaze new paths, too afraid to step into the storm. No more are we satisfied to be clones of our parents and their parents. We are our own breed and our time has come.

Jajabor is Assamese for "yayavar", meaning traveler, and is about new destinations and creating new roads where none existed. It is about being free from mental boundaries and stale thinking, striding with confidence towards a new destiny. It is about creating something new. Something different and proving yourself your own way.

In short, "Jajabor" is about Roadies.
