MTV presents The First Music Festival on Indian Television
December 28, 2012 @ 19:11 pm
The past two years - 2011 and 2012 - were, to us at MTV, largely about music. Original, independent, Bollywood, folk, Hindi, English, rock, rap, reggae... we sought to bring together some of the best Indian musicians - both old and new - from around the world on one stage, across a multitude of genres, and provide them one mainstream platform to showcase their amazing talent so the world would take notice.
From AR Rahman to Agam, Sneha Khanwalkar to Sawan Khan Manganiyar and Nitin Sawhney to Piyush Mishra, the vast repertoire of artistes we've collaborated with are representative in every sense of the enormous pool of musical talent our country houses. Which is why we thought it'd be a great idea for us to usher in the New Year steeped in the nostalgia that some of our past work in music brings us.
And, of course, to celebrate Indian music and musicians.
We all know how you love to attend outdoor music festivals on long weekends. Here's another first from the MTV Music Programming team, the first ever music festival exclusive to TV, and with all your favourite music that MTV's created. Tune in over the 29th, 30th and 31st of December to a multi-stage music festival for a great mix of fusion, experimental, indie and unplugged music from our various shows in 2012 - Coke Studio @ MTV, Sound Trippin, Roots and Unplugged.
