A round of applause for Mr. Mukherjee
July 23, 2012 @ 00:00 am
Rashtrapati Bhavan is being prepared to welcome the 13th president of India, a choice of 713937 politicians; Mr. Pranab Mukherjee is obviously getting prepared to take oath at 11:30 am on Wednesday and may be searching for an apt quote by Shakespeare, to
Pranab Da has won the presidential elections with 69.31% votes, while Purno Sangma is awfully distressed for only getting 30.69% votes. He is probably singing out to his ma, like the forlorn Darsheel Safari, or he already Sang-ma considering the result was quite evident by the time the weekend commenced. Also, some BJP leaders are still drenched in envy after the victory of a Congress candidate, but they can form a clan with the Anna fasters who will remain hungry from the moment Pranab takes oath.
Nevertheless, there were enough who went and congratulated the new president, amongst them were Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Meira Kumar, Manmohan Singh and his wife. Unfortunately, we were not able to make it because of a prior appointment with his highness the Prince of Wales, but we take this opportunity to congratulate him and remind him of the work that lies ahead.
The major task that he might want to accomplish in order to get kudos for the chair he has been given responsibility of, would be to respond to more than 10 petitions sent by prisoners on death row. There was already talk of rejection, in remote metropolitan distances, which we have given a sound hearing to; should the President choose to reject their pleas, we are ready to welcome the decision only if it is collaborated with reasonable wisdom.
