On This Day in 2002, Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' topped the UK Charts.
Thanks to the efforts of writer Scott Silver and director Curtis Hanson, fans of Eminem got to see the making of the real Slim Shady. Yes; I am talking about 8 Mile a must watch film for all the fans of Eminem. Interestingly, the film gives the world a different perspective on rap culture; we’ve all heard about the struggle of people under white domination, but in this film Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith Jr. (Eminem) finds himself struggling to launch himself as a rap artist in an industry dominated by African Americans.
It was for this film that Eminem composed his fourth hit single “Lose Yourself”; the song won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Grammys awarded it for Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Song. Besides, "Lose Yourself" also ranks 93rd on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs list. Later the song was included on Eminem's greatest hits album Curtain Call: The Hits. On this day in music in the year 2002, Eminem was at no. 1 on the UK singles chart.
