Curtis James Jackson III, better known for his stage name 50 Cent, walked out on a career of peddling drugs to pursue music. However, when success in the latter arrived at his doorstep; 50 Cent was in hospital recovering from nine bullet wounds. He had been shot by Mike Tyson’s bodyguard at close range, but survived the attack. Throughout the recovery he juggled thoughts of: “I started to think that I must have a purpose in life... How much more damage could that shell have done? Give me an inch in this direction or that one, and I'm gone". He found a purpose in rapping and 2003, in this day in music, that talent did deliver him from his earlier misfortunes when his Cent's debut album, 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin' was named the biggest selling album in the US. The album went platinum six times and was declared the highest selling album in that year.
