On This Day In Music, Janet Jackson had a wardrobe malfunction while performing for Superbowl with Justin Timberlake in 2004.

Since the early 70’s, Janet Jackson has been a very important exponent of pop culture, with a lasting effect that even by the end of the 90’s, she was considered the second most successful recording artist of the decade, after Mariah Carey. While she holds the 7th rank in a list of Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists and ranked fifth in a list of Top 50 R&B / Hip-Hop Artists of the Past 25 Years from 2008, she hasn’t been written off as a commercial artist but one who has a socially driven air about her.

Songs like, Nasty (1986), Rhythm Nation (1989) and All for You (2001) are good examples of how she has evolved as a musician and how she still finds inspiration floating around her. In this day in music, Janet became the most searched for personality on Google, with people looking for her wardrobe malfunction images.

Janet was performing, along with Justin Timberlake, at the For the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show in February 2004. On singing the lyric "gonna have you naked by the end of this song" from his single "Rock Your Body", Timberlake tore open her top, exposing her right breast.
