January 05, 2013 @ 01:16 am On This Day In Music, 'Justify My Love' by Madonna topped the US Singles chart
Madonna walks into a hotel hallway, looking tired and distressed after a hard day at work, but then she is seduced by an unknown couple into having sex. No, that isn’t what the newspapers have revealed, but that was the kind of imagery she projected in the music video for one of her most controversial songs “Justify My Love”. Besides, you know what happens when the sh*t hits the fan; there are numerous covers and parodies that follow. Today, the song is still declared one of the most controversial songs in pop history, but there is a second reason for that. Initially, the song was written by Lenny Kravitz and Ingrid Chavez, but Madonna went ahead and added a few more lines without crediting Chavez in the album, leading to copyright issues. This day in music, back in 1991, the song went to No.1 on the US singles chart and No.2 hit in the UK.
