TDIM - Led Zeppelin arrived in the United States for their first North American Tour

Have you ever been to Classic Rock Quiz competition; there are some questions that you would encounter for sure. The one I struggled with was about the Led Zeppelin. The question: What does Zeppelin mean? Now, being a big fan of their music; I’m not boasting but the only songs of Zeppelin I haven’t heard are the ones they did not compose. However, when it came to this question I fumbled; though, I had been curious about it earlier, the only thing I could come up with at that time was that it is “some lead spaceship”.

Close but what they wanted was the absolute fact. Well, this is what I learnt that day: When Jimmy Page was getting the group together; Keith Moon (drummer from The Who) heard about Jimmy’s plans and predicted the group should go down "like a lead balloon" which is a common English expression. Bassist and keyboardist John Entwistle suggested that it would be "more like a lead zeppelin." Page took the phrase and manager Peter Grantchanged who changed the spelling to "led" in order to avoid mispronunciation.

In this day in music, back in 1968, Led Zeppelin arrived in the United States for the first time in the midst of preparations for their debut North American tour. At that time, the group was paid a little less than a lakh for each show.
