Buzz TDIM - We remember George Harrison from The Beatles on his Birth Anniversary Posted
February 25, 2013 @ 00:25 am On This Day In Music, we at MTV remember George Harrison from The Beatles on his Birth Anniversary.
While The Beatles was dominated by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, the two were kind enough to let the youngest member of the band compose one song the way he wanted it. Further, as time would have it, out the Fab Four; musicians, curators and documenters have all preferred to indulge with the youngest or the quiet Beatle; Beatle George. In the 60’s he began engaging with the Hare Krishna Movement and was soon a British Babu of sorts, spreading the message of eastern mysticism to the rest of the band and his fans. His music began to get an Indian flavour; especially, songs like "Taxman", "Within You Without You", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Here Comes the Sun", "For You Blue", and "Something". His relationship with Ravi Shankar as a friend, student and fellow musician can be elaborated another time, but for now, on this day in music, we would like to wish George Harrison a very happy birthday. Hope you are somewhere safe playing Day Tripper with John Lennon.
