This day in Music, in 1964, The Beatles had four singles re-released in the US!

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960 that became one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music.

Their 4 singles, ‘Do You Want To Know A Secret’, ‘Please, Please Me’, ‘Love Me Do’ and 'Twist And Shout’ were re-released in the US.

Ten songs were recorded for Please Please Me, accompanied by the four tracks already released on their two singles.

After the moderate success of "Love Me Do", "Please Please Me" met with a more emphatic reception. Released in January 1963, it reached number one on every national chart except Record Retailer, where it stalled at number two.

"Do You Want to Know a Secret" is a song by The Beatles from the 1963 album Please Please Me, sung by George Harrison. In the United States, it was the first top ten song to feature Harrison as a lead singer, reaching #2 on the Billboard chart in 1964 as a single released by Vee-Jay, VJ 587. The song reached the #1 position on Billboard in 1981 and #2 in the United Kingdom in a cover version by Stars on 45 as part of a medley.

"Twist and Shout" was covered by The Beatles with John Lennon on the lead vocals and originally released on their first album Please Please Me. Perhaps the Beatles' best-known cover, "Twist and Shout" was originally a hit for the Isley Brothers, who reached #17 with it in 1962.
