This Day In Music, we remember Notorious B.I.G!
It is late rap icon Biggie’s birthday! The Notorious B.I.G was born on 21 May, 1972. The American rapper and hip hop artist was born and raised in New York.
With sheer talent and determination, he turned himself from a street hustler to a rap icon. A movie titled ‘Notorious’ was released as a tribute to his life and death. When Christopher George Latore Wallace was killed in an LA drive-by in 1997, the East-Coast legend of loose and easy flow was sorely mourned. From that day forth, his contribution to the rap genre has been mercilessly celebrated.
“Come on You Reds” was a song recorded by the Manchester United Football team in collaboration with rock band Status Quo. The single was released four weeks before the 1994 FA Final Cup. On 21 May, 1994, the song reached No.1 on the UK singles chart. The song is still the only club side football single to have topped the UK charts.
